The principal objectives of Zambia Athletics is to administer, conduct, manage, supervise, regulate, promote, foster and control the athletics activities throughout the country in accordance with the rules and regulations as amended from time to time.
The Main Activities of the ZA is Talent Identification Program (TIP) which was designed to identify athletes with potential, in urban and rural areas, nurture them through various local competitions and then expose them to regional and International competitions. The TIP program has delivered outstanding results since it was crafted by the Association (ZA) in 2004.
Zambia Amateur Athletics Association (ZA) has the following three (3) National teams:
• Youths Team (aged 16 and 17 years)
• Junior Team (aged 18 and 19 years)
• Senior Team ( aged 20 years and above)
The Association has more than sixty (60) reliable athletes who can compete at any major competition.
The performance of the three national teams that have been developed and nurtured through the TIP program financed by funds raised from the ICR project show that Zambia is once again climbing the ladder in the Regional and International Championships
