On Saturday the 16th of June 2018 at Luwawa Forest Lodge is the 15th KIA – Luwawa International Charity Mountain Bike Marathon Race in aid of The Luwawa Environmental Trust (Malawi).

This year’s race major sponsor is HTD/KIA motors.

The event which starts at 10.00am from the lodge attracts some top International cyclist from South Africa, Mozambique, Malawi, Zambia and Europe .

It is a 52Km circuit of the mountain ridges and Indigenous forest of the South Viphya Forest Reserve most of which is on single tracks a spectacularly beautiful but tough and challenging course.

The race is open to males and females cyclists over the age of 17 years who have a safety approved standard of mountain bike and who are fit enough to complete the race in a reasonable time and who fulfill the race and UCI registration requirements. There will also be a junior race of 20km for other entrants.

There are generous individual monetary prizes for the first three elite men and the first three elite women to finish the course. and also a prestigious team prize , a silver mountain bike exact model replica trophy (the Selmar Gassen Memorial Trophy). for the fist three members of a registered team to finish with the lowest average time over the course.

Has your company, club, or organisation entered a team? Teams can be sponsored for a charity of your choice or the Luwawa Environmental Trust.

Local teams from all over Malawi Have been represent and in the past Blantyre cycling club and Mzuzu cycling have done particularly well.

Its a great day out for all the family and spectators are welcome . The prize giving is in the beautiful grounds of Luwawa Forest Lodge at around 4.00pm.
